Protect Your Child's Vision Before Its Too Late
If you reflect just two decades back, how and where was your free time spent as kids? Was it confined to four rooms, the compound walls, the tall apartments or playgrounds, the sprawling fields, the porches?
The world has come closer and so is the mindset of people in some terms converging.
The imaginary line that separates the sky and earth (horizon) has just remained as an imagination for most of the urban kids which we were lucky to have seen it.
The stress of learning to read and write too early, trying to focus on the alphabet in the books and charts instead of looking at the nature and learning is affecting their sense organs.
Trying to develop their fine motor skills, we are forcing them into activities and near work which require too much concentration for the young age.
Our changed lifestyles like getting up late in the morning, going to bed late at night, watching T.V. for hours, handing smart phones to the kids only to replace you are also having great impact.
Forgotten rituals that our forefathers did like Sun salutations and offering water to the Rising Sun are paying us and we are still not able to realize and ready to accept as to why so many kids at such young age are having shortsightedness.
Just one or two decades back how many kids in an average had nearsightedness? Not many. Let us be proactive. We can definitely take some precautions to prevent our kids from getting Myopia.
We blame the the quality of food available these days, we blame kids that they keep watching videos and reluctant to eat veggies. But who is the real culprit? Let us not blame anyone but take few measures so that our kids vision can be saved and not prevent them from getting those ugly glasses.
Practice getting up early and once awake do go out for those early rays of Sun.Go to the terrace if you cannot see the rising Sun. Allow your kids to play outdoor on fields or playgrounds. Let their eyes get the exercise of seeing far.
Let them play ball, cricket, gilli danda which gives complete exercise to the eyes. Kids are reluctant when it come to exercise. Our aim is to give side to side, up and down, circular movement to the eye balls. Day light or natural light is good for eyes. Early morning and evening light is not too harsh.
Let then play hide and seek. They can do palming (cup the palms and place them on the eyes) in disguise.
Enroll them to dance classes where they are bound to do eye exercise. Plus dance involve eye movement which is beneficial for healthy eyes.
Don't let them read too tiny letters. If kids are in preschool or kindergarten don't compel them to read and write for too long.
For older kids, always see that they do not study in poor light.
Take them to park or grounds regularly instead of malls.
If they been doing too much near work teach them to relax their eyes by closing them up to a count of 60, splash water on the eyes, take a break and go out for few minutes.
All this is to keep their eyes healthy and keep them away from myopia.
Remove the boundaries and widen their vision, their sight and allow them to enjoy the nature, the Sun shine, the rain, and their childhood
