Cultivate Skills In Kids Through Gardening

These days with room full of toys, kids are getting bored not knowing what to play with.

Having so many games to play online and so many cartoon channels, kids are getting depressed.
Readiness of parents to gift them with everything they demand is making them more indulgent and impatient.
Growing with all the luxuries and materialistic lifestyle, we are indirectly teaching kids to value things by its price.

Teaching gardening is a simplest way to pull your kid out of all the above trouble. A Life skill which will never leave your kid hungry in any situation and a great way to relieve stress.
Introducing your child to gardening is inculcating love for nature.
It is like giving him a friend in disguise.
A tool to acquire peace in the turmoil he might face in some part of his life.
Indirectly you are nurturing gentleness, compassion, kindness and love to serve.

And of course he has got lessons about germination, photosynthesis, which he can actually experiment with.
Relate his geography lessons, seasons, habitat sand encourage him to learn more about the diversity of flora and fauna. Science and geography will not be disinteresting any more.
Especially  the kinesthetic learners find it more fun to learn this way as it lets them do and learn which is more easier than learning something by just reading or writing.

Growing plants will teach him the nutritional values.
If he is a poor eater, he will be more likely to eat veggies cultivated by himself.
It is a great way to take your kid off the screen and out in the fresh air.
And to indulge him in outdoor physical activities helping him to be fit.

How to:
It can be a small pot with few onion greens or sprouts or try with seeds available in the kitchen like mustard and fenugreek.
Keep the pot indoors and show how leaves turn yellow and after exposing to sunlight they turn green.
Or plant carrots or radish which grow easily.
Or plant them in cups or bottles.
Remind him to water it and weed it when required.. Let him find on his own the results of not doing so. He is going to get responsible and will know how to nurture and take care.
Show him how kitchen waste can be useful as a manure.
Grow flowering plants with your little girl. She can adorn herself with lovely flowers.

During vacation you can engage you kids in gardening where they can play in water, dig and scoop out the soil, sow seeds and plants, play with butterflies and watch different insects.

By Teaching him to grow his own food , by teaching him gardening you are helping him grow up as a responsible citizen of the world who is considerate and kind towards the earth.
