Teach kids life skills

  I was waiting at the signal. The signal went green and vehicles started moving in speed. A boy in his teens, with a school bag on his back rushed in front of the vehicles intending to cross the road. Only because the vehicles had not picked up much speed, the boy was saved from a mishap.   This made me think, " Do our kids really know traffic rules?" Yes, I consider knowing traffic rules , having traffic sense is a Life skill. Children ought to have traffic sense to keep themselves safe. Though schools teach this, though it is included in the curriculum,  parents must educate their kids on keeping themselves safe when they are out of homes. Tell your Pre-schooler to always keep a safe distance from any heavy vehicle. Most often mishaps occur when the child is very close to the van or bus (can be front or rear) as he is out of the driver"s view. Tell him to be with his peers when outdoors. ( Show them with the help of toy car and dolls.)     ...
